1000 Richmond Terrace Randall Manor
Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden is the result of more than three decades of restoration to convert the first home for retired sailors in the United States to a regional arts center. One of the largest ongoing adaptive reuse projects in America, the 83-acre campus consists of 28 historic structures, 14 botanical gardens, a two-acre urban farm, and 10 acres of wetlands. Our mission is to provide a vibrant, regional cultural destination that offers dynamic programming in arts, education, horticulture, agriculture, and recreation for diverse cultures and all ages while ensuring a well-managed campus for all residents of Staten Island and surrounding communities. Six of Snug Harbor’s original buildings were the first to be designated as NYC landmarks in 1965. These include the majestic Greek Revival-style Music Hall, one of the oldest concert halls in New York City. Fourteen distinctive botanical gardens spread across the campus and include the celebrated NY Chinese Scholar’s Garden, the RCSF Tuscan Garden, and the Healing Garden. Snug Harbor and our campus partner organizations offer exhibits, performances, programs, and attractions to benefit the residents of Staten Island and the NYC-NJ metro area. We are proud to be a distinguished Smithsonian affiliate.
